Minuteman 1000 Saddle Sore 1000 route
Below is the route for the Saddle Sore 1000 certificate ride.
We highly recommend marking this route on state maps, especially the leg from Swanton, Vermont to Bangor, Maine as this uses secondary roads.
This route is a suggested best way to reach the required stops to complete the ride. Riders are not required to follow the suggested route, you are only required to complete the tasks listed in red.
From the Clarion Conference Center and Resort take Interstate 91 north to Interstate 89 north to The Carmen Brook Farm in Swanton Vermont. To get to the Carmen Brook Farm take exit 21 in Swanton, VT.
Turn right off the ramp and take immediate left onto Frontage Road. Follow Frontage for 3 miles to the stop sign, straight through intersection onto Fortin Road; fram is 1 mile on the left.
Purchase one pint of pure Vermont Grade A Medium Amber, Grade A Dark Amber or Fancy syrup and make sure you keep a receipt for your purchase. Please note, you will be presenting the rally staff with both the syrup and the receipt, neither of which will be returned. We recommend you also purchase a sample of this wonderful product for your own consumption.
We recommend the following route to get to St. Johnsbury Vermont.
78 to 105 to 118 to 58 to 100 to 14 to 5 which will join Interstate 91 at Exit 26
Take route 2 east from St. Johnsbury. We recommend going around downtown St. Johnsbury which can be done staying on Interstate 91 to Interstate 93 south to exit 1 and going north on 18 .5 miles to rt. 2.
Follow Rt. 2 east to Newport, Maine. Take Interstate 95 north to old exit 49 which has been re-numbered as exit 187
Get a receipt for any purchase from the Hogan Road Deli and Citgo Station which is located just south of Interstate 95. Note: The store closes at 22:00 hrs but the pumps stay active 24/7. In other words if you show up before 22:00 you can pay cash and get a receipt. If you arrive later you will need to use a card at the pump to get the necessary receipt.
Take Interstate 95 south to route 128 / I95 north of Boston, MA. Follow 128 to Interstate 95 South to Wyoming, RI which is at exit 3 on Interstate 95 in Rhode Island.
Get a receipt for any purchase from the Valero Gas / DB Mart or the Mobil gas station located just north of Interstate 95. Note: 128 and Interstate 95 are the same road, it is numbered as 128 as it rings Boston.
Take Interstate 95 south to Milford, Ct., exit 40.
Get a receipt for any purchase from the Pilot truck stop or the Shell station located just south of Interstate 95.
Take Interstate 95 north to Interstate 91 north, exit 18, Rt. 5 and return to the hotel before 06:00 Sunday June 8.
