INFORMATION

The Minuteman 1000 is presented by the North East LD Riders. This is a 24 hr event tailored toward the new rally rider, however we will provide plenty of opportunities for big dogs to "Screw the Pooch."

The Minuteman 1000 is open to riders of all brands of motorcycles. Please see the rules for motorcycle requirements. Any motorcycle with an engine displacement of less than 600cc's will be accepted at the discretion of the Rallymaster.

There are two components to this event. First we are pleased to offer riders the opportunity to obtain an Iron Butt Association Saddle Sore (1000 miles in 24 hours) Certificate, pin and plate frame by following a set route. New members to the Iron Butt Association (SS1K is required for membership) who properly pre-register and fulfill the requirements of the ride will be awarded their certificate, pin and plate frame at the awards brunch. It will NOT be necessary to use a camera (no photo boni) to complete the requirements of the SS1K

The second component of the MM1K is a 25 hr rally in the "traditional" format, i.e. you will be given a list of bonus locations along with point values for each location. The rider who obtains the most points will be the winner. There will be a rest bonus, it will be impossible to have a podium finish without taking the rest bonus.

The MM1K will be a photo bonus rally. Bonus locations will be sent to the riders via email prior to or during the banquet Friday evening. This information will include the location of the bonus and the point value. Specific instructions on how to collect each bonus will be included in the rally book which will be distributed at the riders banquet Friday evening.

You will not need a fuel cell, GPS or fancy gadgets to have a good time on the Minuteman 1000 Certificate ride, however having a motorcycle friendly GPS mounted where you can easily see it can make the ride more enjoyable. For the 24hr rally a GPS is critical as the only location information provided are coordinates and or a street address.

The basic rally boundaries will be the Arctic Circle, Erie Canal and the Atlantic Ocean. There just might be a bonus or two outside of these boundaries however the bulk of the rally will take place in New England.

One mantra of most Rallymasters is reading comprehension is very important. For the MM1K, this starts with information provided on this web site. For example if we explain that we are doing something a certain way to benefit riders (perhaps to give you time to place marks on a map) it would probably be a good idea to take advantage of this information.

As always questions are welcome.
